Measuring for a Spring Axle
You must acquire the hub face and spring center measurements to find the correct axle for you. Remove your tires for easy and accurate measuring. Obtaining this measurement alone can be challenging, so consider speaking with a professional
To measure the hub face, follow these tips:
- Place the end of your tape measure at the hub's outside, (where the wheel bolts on), facing the wheel.
- Measure across the axle to the opposite side.
- Do not measure the inside of the hub.
The spring center measurement is critical as misplaced springs can result in bent axles or axles that do not align with the frame. To find this measurement:
- Start by hooking your tape on the outside of one spring.
- Then measure to the inside of the other spring.
